Chunghwa Telecom Brewing VAS with China Telecom

BEIJING, Jan 14, 2011 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd., one of the leading telecom operators in Taiwan, said yesterday that it had kicked off a test for Intelligent Energy Network (iEN) service in cooperation with China Telecom in several cities in mainland China.

The iEN business includes energy conservation solutions that enable service providers to collect air conditioner service data before transferring them to the energy management center through Internet or VPN network, according to Chunghwa Telecom. China Telecom, which runs the widely-adopted CDMA2000 network in the mainland, has decided to come with the value-added service (VAS) for business expansion.

In addition, the company is in talks with the mainland telecom operator to roll out family security remote monitoring services, disclosed Chunghwa Telecom, noting that family security remote monitoring service, based on intelligent telephone equipment, makes it possible to send information to up to five wireless terminals simultaneously through e-mail or short message service (SMS).
