RATS LOSE 4TH IN ROW.(SPORTS)

Phantoms5 River Rats2 PHILADELPHIA -- Kirk Furey had a goal and two assists as the Philadelphia Phantoms extended their unbeaten streak to seven games with a 5-2 victory over the Albany River Rats on Friday.

Jiri Bicek had a goal and an assist for Albany (13-22-6-6), which lost its fourth straight and saw its winless skid reach six games. Eric Johansson also tallied for the River Rats. Goaltender Ari Ahonen made 21 saves.

Goalie Jeff Hackett stopped 16 shots and Claude Lapointe also scored a goal for Philadelphia (29-14-5-1). Both players were on conditioning assignments from the NHL Philadelphia Flyers.

Kirby Law added a goal and an assist, while Peter Vandermeer and Freddy Meyer had the other goals for the Phantoms.

Furey gave the Phantoms a 3-0 lead at 6:50 of the second period when he drove a slap shot from the point past Ahonen for his sixth goal of the season.

Johansson scored on a redirection at 12:15 to get Albany on the board, but Philadelphia took advantage of a high-sticking major on Albany's Joe Hulbig and Meyer scored on the ensuing power play to make it 4-1 after two periods.

Bicek pulled Albany to within 4-2 at 4:23 of the third period, but Furey set up Law 1:14 later to complete the scoring.
